When Does Perimenopause Start

Am i in perimenopause?

I have always been regular with my periods lasting four days moderate bleeding.On the 4th of April i came on my period as usual.but this one lasted 2 days with light bleeding.5 days later i got all the signs of pms again which does not usually start to happen till a few days before i have my period again eg tender breasts etc.Now i have blood only when i go to the toilet and wipe myself,this is my 7th day i am 49yrs of age.
been to docs and i have had blood tests to rule out thyroid and other causes and a smear test before they can confirm anything. There are many causes as to why this is happening it could be cysts.I have not got to assume it is the perimenopause until all test results come back.

Sounds like it. Mine started to be irregular then stopped for 3 months then I flooded. I also had hot flushes, mood swings and forgetfullness. My Doctor put me on HRT which cured everything.
