Understanding Menopause

When does the menopause start?

I understand that it's different for different people, but approximately? What is the age range?

I'm 42 and I started at 38 which is "unusual but not abnormal" from what my gyno said. I have had two periods in the past two years and they say two years of no periods your in menopause. Night sweats and Hot Flashes were common for me about two years ago, but I don't miss my period!
