Symptoms Of Perimenopause And Menopause

I haven't had a menstrual period in about five or six months so I naturally assumed that I was experiencing...

... symptoms of early menopause or maybe even perimenopause. But now my stomach is significantly and increasingly getting bigger and, even though I initially believed that weight gain was all part of menopause, I am starting to think that I may well be pregnant for the first time in my life!

Is it normal NOT to have gone through any morning sickness at all, but solely stomach aches and backaches and the odd bout of nausea?

How insane would that be at my age?!? I am 39 years old and in a long-term relationship with a man I absolutely adore! Having a baby now wouldn't be a problem at all for us, on the contrary!

This may sound crazy but would a home pregnancy test still be effective and accurate at this late stage or should I go straight to a doctor's office or a clinic and get an ultrasound?

Do I need to make an appointment or can I just walk in unannounced, so to speak? (We live in the U.S.)

Your serious thoughts and opinions please.

You could very well be pregnant.

A home pregnancy test will work until you are no longer pregnant. So go ahead and take one.

Also if you live near a walk in clinic, go ahead and get checked out there, most likely if you are as far along as you think, they will have you schedule for an ultrasound a.s.a.p.

It is possible to go through pregnancy without any symptoms. I have heard stories from many woman who had no idea they were pregnant until the last few months of pregnancy, and have even heard one story of a woman who didnt know until she went into labor and realized she was having a baby. Scary, huh?

I would say, go out right now, to a 24 hour pharmacy and get a Home p.t. The sooner the better.
