Perimenopause Birth Control Pills
Please help me with this menopause question?
I was told by my doctor I'm in perimenopause. I'm 43. He put me on a low dose birth control pill to help with my severe Hot Flashes. It's the second day I've been taking it and I'm starting to bleed. I haven't had a period since April, and now my period seems to be starting. Is this normal?
I personally cannot understand why your doctor would place you on bc at your age. After 35 and/or if you smoke, it increases your chances of breast cancer.
There are other ways to manage hot flashes. Evening Primrose Oil (from health food shops) can be helpful but does not work over night... it takes time.
Talk to your pharmacist about other options as well as talk to the local heath food store... both can give you direction.
I would get a second opinion about your hot flashes and taking bc.
