Menopause Weight Gain Solutions
Only menopausal women please...?
ok, past menopause, still having night sweats and Hot Flashes, but the worst part is i am gaining weight which diet and exercise do not seem to be having an effect on. anyone have better solutions to this old age problem? HA THE GOLDEN YEARS, THEY'RE SHITTY!
Unfortunately this is a time of life we have to accept. When I started Menopause it was about the same time I had a total thyroidectomy due to thyroid cancer. To say the least I was a basket case. I was out of control. Once my thyroid medication was under control my mind slowly came back. But, your body knows you have a thyroid but your brain does not, so, medication for the none existence of your thyroid does nothing at all to help with weight gain. Nothing. Menopause adds to that. You weight shifts and I mean shifts! I took Paxil when my Menopause Symptoms got so bad I could not stand it. I should have read up on it because Paxil triggers your brain to store all of your food intake. Go figure! I am now on Effexor XL. I am told by my Oncologist and Primary Care Physician that nothing, nothing will take away the hot flashes 100%. And, hot flashes are different in everyone. Some experience them the rest of their lives and others stop having them after time and then there are the ones we hate that never have them! Nothing will help with the weight gain. The best that we can do is exercise and keep our body lean with muscle. The muscle will burn more fat in the long run. Of course you have to realize muscle weighs more than fat but in is healthier for you.
Okay, maybe I have convinced myself to exercise now and burn that damn fat out of my system! And, eat three meals a day, with a snack in between. At this time in our life our metabolism has gone bye bye. If you eat every three hours (small portions/healthy portions) your metabolism will wake up and work again. You will be surprised at how it works if you stick with it. And, besides eating every three hours prevents you from getting hungry and eating too much.
The golden years can be pretty bad. But in the long run we are at a point in our lives where we could care less what other people think. We are wiser and more relaxed with life in general. It really is a good time if you can outweigh the bad.
