Menopause Symptoms Itching
Does anyone have any idea what causes internal vaginal discomfort and itching?
This has been going on for about a month. it started right before my cycle and continued right after. its been approx. a month i guess. I have treated myself for a yeast infection but that does not seem to help. Its still itchy in someway internally. There is really not a change in my discharge, nor do i have any other symptoms.... Im really confused...Could it just be hormonal, im only 20 so i know its not menopause. I just wanna scratch it but i cant...
No other symptoms, no blisters, no nasty discharge, no painful urination, no burning.... nothing. Could i be pregnant? Pregnancy causes hormonal changes...
This sounds like an infection in your vagina. You need to see a doctor about this, but if I had to guess I'd say it's a bacterial infection rather than a yeast infection. I think this because the yeast treatment didn't help and you don't have a heavy discharge, which would be more typical of a yeast infection.
A doctor can take a swab with a Q-tip and test it to see what type of infection you have. If it's bacterial, you'll need to take antibiotics. If it's a yeast infection, the doctor can prescribe a stronger treatment than you can buy over the counter. So either way it's good to see a doctor.
You should make an appointment as soon as possible. There's no reason to be uncomfortable for something easy to treat. Also, if it's a bacterial infection there's some danger it could spread to other parts of your body if not treated. You really want to avoid that by treating it early on.
EDIT: Bacterial infections sometimes have few or no symptoms. The only way to rule out a bacterial infection is to see a doctor. It's certainly possible that you're pregnant, but an infection is more likely. Either way you need to SEE A DOCTOR AS SOON AS POSSIBLE.
