Dealing With Weight Gain During Menopause

Weight gain is completely natural during menopause. There are many factors which can stimulate weight gain during this particular time period in a woman’s life. One factor which can lead to extra weight stems from emotional symptoms. For instance, a woman can undergo several levels of depression during this time of her life. Depression in turn can lead to overeating and/or discouragement from physical activity. So what can we do in order to avoid unnecessary weight gain during menopause?

One way to avoid unnecessary weight gain is to maintain a healthy diet. This means consuming foods that are low in fat and high in fiber. A strict diet is important because a lot of women turn towards food for comfort during this particular time period in their lives. And menopause is not the only thing working against us, we all know by now that our metabolism slows down with age. This means that we have two factors working against us. Therefore a healthy diet is must.

Another important step in avoiding unnecessary weight is to sustain regular aerobic exercise. Exercising can make your body leaner and it can boost your metabolism. Certain training exercises, such as walking and bicycling, can help you maintain and build strong muscle and bones during a time when bone loss is at its highest. Another way to reduce weight gain is by helping your body improve its metabolic functions. There are numerous products available on the market today which help us improve our metabolism. Some items that you may find in your local grocery store include certain yogurt products, certain dairy drinks, and natural supplements. Consuming these products during menopause can increase your metabolism and help you maintain better control of your weight.
