Menopause Long Periods

why do girls who start their periods earlier take longer to hit menopause?

I'm not making this up, I heard of this in sex ed. It's a fact but it makes absolutely no evolutionary sense at all.
My teacher is not a coach. The only other subject he teaches is health.

I'm pretty sure its a variable and biology is a science that can't be determined by math (which is probably he came to that statistic) cause you can't go around living for centuries asking and observing as many girls as possible to see when they have their period and when they start menopause. First, because they'd call you a stalker, and second, you're not likely to live for a couple centuries.
Its a plausible theory but can't really be proven, you would need a lot of girls to survey
