Menopause Diet Program

Fitness program advice, please, for overweight 49 yo female?

Hi, I am trying to take off 40 lbs put on from a pregnancy 2 years ago. I am using a treadmill 5x a week for a 1 1/2 mile run/walk interval program, + some resistance training. My limitations are a very bad back, have already had 2 disc surgeries, and not wanting a 3rd. We live in the country so no real gym or swimming available. Any suggestions welcome, so far I have lost 8 lbs in 8 weeks, would like to increase that and get this over with! :) I am watching my diet and hitting around 2000 calories a day with lots of water and no dairy or fats. Thanks!

PS- My general practioner said it's menopause, live with it, screw that, I want my health back!

Actually, I think what you are doing is fan-freaking-tastic.

Your diet is 50% of the battle. Excercise is the other 50%. You'd addressed them both. 8 pounds in 8 weeks is what you DO want to see. It means that you are doing the right amount of eating vs exercise. Keep it up and this will become your "norm" lifestyle, and you will not gain the wait back...you will just plateau and keep it off. If you lose the weight faster than your body can adjust to, you will end up gaining it back. Stay on track.

Make sure that you are getting all the nutrients/food groups, and you are going to be incredibly healthy.

You are doing awesome. keep it up.

PS - get a new GP.
