Menopause Breast Swelling

If you have experienced menopause, please help...?

I am soon to be 55 and have gone through full fledge menopause years ago. I have never taken anything at all for it, electing to just suffer through the symptoms. As a result I still suffer with Hot Flashes...but my question is this. Recently I have suffered with swelling in both of my breasts and up under my armpits. My breasts feel quite full, and tender as they do when pregnant or nursing (pregnancy is impossible for me as not only am I sterile, but I have been celebate for years). About 10 years ago I had my nipple duct removed from my left nipple because of leakage and it was determined that there were definite changes in the duct, but no cancer. About a year and a half ago I had a mammogram that showed 2 large cysts (one in ech breast) that I was told would need to be watched. Is it common for this to happen or is there cause for real concern. Please share similar experiences. I have no insurance and am out of work so can't afford a medical exam.

Sorry, I haven't gone through menopause yet. I just turned 53 though. Just a bit of advice. Don't wait until it is too late. Preventative is better than putting things off. Here's a site that may be able to help those who can not afford a mammogram.

My mom use to say, I can't afford to go to the Dr. and had she just went when she needed to, she could have been given antibiotics and been treated. It got so bad that my sister went to visit and had to call an ambulance. She had Pneumococcal Pnemonia and nearly died. She was in a comma for a week and the hospital bills mounted to over $100,000!!! If only she had been treated sooner! As it turned out because of her status with not many assets, the hospital ended up writing off her bill which was the only thing good that came out of this.
