How to Live Your Menopause Happily and Healthily

Vera Henes asked:

For many Women Menopause represents a crucial and often difficult moment.

Although the issue can be quite complex, both from a medical and psychological standpoint, in this article I would like to give a few basic tips on how to live menopause happily and healthily.

Which change to the diet?

The intake of carbohydrates (preferably whole) should increase, as they give energy quickly and without producing toxins. Fruit and vegetables rich in A vitamin should be on top of the list for their antioxidant properties. Broccoli, cabbage, peppers, citrus, strawberries, pumpkin, broadleaved vegetables. Vegetable fat like olive, corn, sunflower oil should be preferred to animal fat, as they are rich in essential fatty acids, which help slow down cellular aging. Soy has a similar action on brain cells, as it is rich in phospholipids

Osteoporosis prevention

Physical exercise is crucial as it prevents bone tissue reduction. It does not have to be intense, but varied. The best exercise is a one-hour walk three times a week. D Vitamin. This vitamin in particular stimulates intestinal absorption of calcium. The best foods in this case would be cod liver oil, wheat germ, pineapple and yeast. D vitamin is also endogenously produced by the body, when it is exposed to solar rays. Calcium. The recommended daily allowance of calcium is about 1g. Other than milk and dairy products (which could bring intolerance issues), it can be also found in hazelnuts, almonds, soy flour, sesame seeds, onions, cabbage, fennel, peas. Coffee, smoking, and alcohol should be avoided, as they determine negative balance in calcium and increase the risk of osteoporosis.
