Hot Flashes Kidney
I've prescribed Neurontin?
For almost a year, I have been experiencing different symptoms in the muscles and joints of my legs and feet. Such as, pain, swelling, numbness, bad circulation, Hot Flashes in knees & Legs, frequent bacterial infections in my toes, and feelings of "falling asleep" on my legs just by trying to flex them a little.
I was thinking maybe it was due to my pregnancy and then due to my delivery. Recently when trying to get them massaged or pedicured. Just the touch and the attempt to massage them caused excruciating pain. My Ob suggested I see a Primary.
Anyhow for now, the Primary ran cbc and other labs to check my kidneys and liver. they gave me a sugar level test and injected me with a antinflamatory.
The Primary's PA prescribed me 300 mg of Neurontin and advised to take at bedtime. Isnt that a big dosage? Doesnt this cause swelling? Is it worth it for me to try Neurontin?
Neurontin is an anti-epileptic (for partial epilepsy) and neuropathic pain medication. Have you been told why they are have prescribed the medication, or are they still waiting on test results?
As Susan said Neurontin does not cause swelling, and 300mg is a fairly low dose, for neuropathic pain (which I suspect why you have been prescribed neurontin).
I am supposed to take one 300mg capsule in the morning and night, but it is fairly expensive so I only take one at night, without it I would not be able to work my part time job.
I have Chronic Fatigue Syndrome and Fibromyalgia, and the Neurontin is for the Fibromyalgia, and have been on it for about 18 months.
I have included a few links with more information, which maybe helpful. Given the pain you describe its worth trying the Neurontin.
I wish you luck and a pain free day
