Hot Flashes Causes Symptoms

Why am I having bad symptoms after my period ended?

I do not think I'm pregnant b/c I am on birth control pills & haven't missed any I was just hoping to get some feedback. My period is generally from Tuesday morning to Sunday afternoon. This time I got it on Tuesday afternoon & it was gone by mid-morning Saturday - so not too much shorter than usual. But I have been a complete wreck since it ended. I've been having Hot Flashes, cranky, cramps, crying uncontrollably, breasts hurting etc. which I ocassionally get during PMS when it is very bad but NEVER after my period ends. Why would I all of a sudden have such a bad time afterwards when this has never been a problem before? Like I said I doubt I'm pregnant but I was just wondering what could cause this b/c I've been like clockwork, not a single change the entire (years) I've been on the pill and this month was different.

There's nothing rational about our hormones. It just happens every now and then - some of us more than others. Our hormones can be affected by the other women around us (our cycles will try to sync with each other) or by the pull of the moon (hey, it affects the ocean tides, too). The pill helps us stay in a regular pattern, but we're susceptible to outside influences as well.

It might be good to note that some medications and herbal supplements can interfere with the effectiveness of the pill. Antibiotics and St. John's Wort are two common things that can make your pills not work.

Grab a pint of Ben & Jerry's and wait it out.
