First Symptoms Of Menopause

What symptoms do you first get when starting the menopause, or peri-menopause ? I'm 43...?

I had both my children fairly late in life (my youngest has just turned 4). I've now missed two periods, I think I'm having hot flushes, but his could be due to the medication I'm taking... is 43 not a little young for the menopause ? I'm also having symptoms similar to PMS except the period never arrives. I've read a little about it but there is so much info.. it's a minefield of contradictory information.

My periods stopped, age 42, for about 10 months. I decided the menopause had started. I felt perfectly normal - better in fact cos no more monthly hassle.
Then my period came back.
Then it stopped again!
Then about 2 months later I started feeling sick & dizzy.
It was Christmas eve & my partner bought a home test pregnancy kit. I said he was mad.
I was pregnant.
I had the child when I was 43 (she was normal).
& my periods never returned.
Apart from hot flushes (which are lessened, I understand, by drinking soya milk) I have suffered no other effects.
