Can’t Lose Weight Menopause
Any suggestions for a discouraged 40's something mom to lose 15 lbs?
I gained 10/15 lbs last Nov. and can't shake it. Is this the dreaded middle age spread? Is this the same thing as pre-Menopause Weight Gain? If not, what's the difference and will it go away? How long will it take to lose if I do weights 3 x's per wk and ride stationary bike 3 x's per week, both 30 minutes each?
How about any suggestions or ideas for a 600 calorie burn workout? I'd like to do that 6 days a week (take Sunday off!) to lose a pound a week. I like the stationary bike and weights for exercise, but don't really care to work out to videos, or jogging.
One pound is something like 3200 calories. If you want to lose a pound, you have to burn 3200 more calories than you consume.
As an example, I do a 3 mile walk about 3 days a week. It burns around 400 calories each time I do it (it takes me about 45 minutes). To lose a pound, without changing my diet, it would take about 8 walks. (Of couse, I don't change my diet, so the walking just keeps me at even -- which is pretty good for 42)
Another statistic I hear frequently is that 2 pounds a week is a good weight loss rate. Anything more is too fast and will probably backfire.
